I feel very happy to welcome you all for this 20th Annual Day of our college. On behalf of everyone, it is my great pleasure to invite our Chief guests of honour, our beloved members of the Management, Respected Shri.K.M.G.Balasubramanian,Managing Trustee,Shri.K.M.G.Sundaravadanam, Chairman, Shri.K.M.G.Rajendran, Secretary, Shri.K.M.G. Muthukumar, Treasurer for having accepted our invitation and I extend a warm welcome to one & all.

K.M.G. College of Arts & Science was established in the new millennium 2000 and the visionary was our philanthropist Shri.K.M.G Govindarasanar, the founder of Kunja Kowsalya Ammal Educational and Charitable Trust, Gudiyattam. His vision is to empower the economically poor, middle class and the needy students of this province by educating them to higher levels and make them fully employable and economically self reliant. The vision stated above is transformed into action by the progeny of our founder. Our college has proceeded with the initial strength of 196 in 2000 with five UG departments, but now the enrolment has increased to 2079 in this academic year 2019-2020 by offering 10 UG programmes, 8 PG programmes, 5 M.Phil Programmes and 4 Ph.D programmes.

It is my privilege and at the same time I am delighted to present the glimpses of the academic activities and achievements of our college during this academic year 2019-2020.

STAFF PROFILE  :

We have a strong band of faculty members. 60 Staff members of our college have produced 100% results in the University Examinations in the papers taught by them.

  • The following staff members, 1. Dr.S. Sasikumar, Asst. Prof. English, Dr.C. Arunachalam, HOD of BBA & 3. Dr.S.Shankar, Asst. Prof. of BBA were awarded with Ph.D degree this year.
  • Two staff members have cleared the NET/SET examinations in this year.
  • The following staff members have appointed as Member, Board of Studies for the period of three years by the University.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES :

In addition to regular activities, all the departments of our college have organized state level seminars having eminent subject experts as resource person in the concerned fields. Participants from various colleges affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University had an wonderful exposure to the recent trends in the respective subjects.

The list of activities done by various departments during this academic year is as follows:

DEPARTMENT OF TAMIL:

  • Tamil Literary Association organized Special Lecture entitled “Yaathum Vooree Yaavarum Keleer”, held on 03.10.2019. Dr. G. Venkatakrishnan, Asst.Prof. of Tamil, Islamiah College was the Chief Guest and delivered a special lecture.
  • Tamil Literary Association organized various Competitions like elocution, essay writing and drawing to the students. Prizes & certificates were awarded to the prize winners.
  • Thiruvalluvar University conducted district wise Competition for Thirukural Maanadu from 16.12.2019 to 20.12.2019 at DKM College, Vellore. Our students participated & won 18 first prizes, 14 second prizes and 10 third prizes in the various competitions.
  • J.Jayakumar, HOD of Tamil and Ms.S.Sangeetha, Asst. Prof. of Tamil, attended the workshop conducted by National Testing Service India (Central scheme of MHRD) Central institute of India languages, Mysore from 16.12.2019 to 20.12.2019.

PG DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH :

  • English Literary Association has conducted various competitions such as elocution, pencil sketch, calligraphy, tongue twisters, JAM, short story writing and poetry writing to the students.
  • The Department organized “English Literary Association” on 12.09.2019. P.Vasugi, Head, PG & Research Department of English Government Thirumagal Mills College, Gudiyattam was the chief guest and delivered a talk on “Emerging Trends in Literature”.
  • Intercollegiate literary fest ENGLISHIANA-2019 was organized on 12th September 2019. Staff and students from various colleges were participated in this event and won the prizes.
  • Overall Championship was secured by Islamiah College for Women, Vaniyambadi.

DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION :

  • The Department organized a State Level Seminar on “HR Challenges and opportunities 2020” on 01.10.2019. Dr.S.Gomathi, Senior Professor of Business School, VIT University, Vellore was the Resource person and delivered a special lecture on this topic.
  • Students from various colleges participated in this seminar. Competitions such as Business Quizz, paper preparation and mime show were conducted on the same day. Winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.

PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE:

  • The Department organized a State Level Seminar on the topic “Recent trends in GST and Recent trends in Banking on 4th October 2019.
  • J.Srinivasan, Associate Professor, RV Govt. College Chengalpattu and Dr. A. Noor Mohameed Associate Professor, Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi were the Chief Guest and delivered their special lecture. Morethan 300 students participated from various colleges.
  • On 07.08.2019 a Special Lecture was conducted on “GST and Tally”. Auditor Kirubanandam addressed the students. UG and PG students participated and benefited.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS:

  • A State Level Seminar was organized on 4th October 2019 on the topic “Recent Trends in Banking” Dr.A. Noor Mohammed Associate Professor, Head, PG & Research Department of Commerce Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi was the chief guest. 300 students from various colleges participated and benefited.
  • The Department organized an Interdevelopmental program on 27.08.2019 about self–motivation. Dr. R.Padmaja, Associate Professor, Head, PG & Research Dept. of Commerce, DKM College for Women, was the Resource Person and delivered a special lecture on this topic.

  PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE:

  • The Department of Computer Science and Computer Applications jointly organized a State level IT Meet tilted I Blaze’19 on 5th October 2019. N.Senthil kumar, Assistant Professor VIT University, Vellore was the Chief Guest. He gave a special lecture on “Big Data Analysis and its potential applications” Various events were conducted for the students. Auxilium Women’s College, Katpadi won the overall championship. 150 students from various colleges participated in the program.
  • The Computer Science Department organized Department Association on 27.08.2019. Prof.A.George Louis Raja Department of MCA Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur was the Chief Guest and gave a speech on “Data Science”.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS:

  • This department Co-ordinate all the ICT Academy activities in the college. The Academy conducted “Employability Skill Training program from 17.07.2019 to 30.08.2019. 40 students and faculties participated in the program and benefited.
  • The Department Association programme was conducted on 29.08.2019. K. Arulanandam, Head, Department of Computer Science, GTM College, Gudiyattam was the Chief Guest.

FDP – Spoken Tutorial Subject – PHP & MYSQL (Online):

Our college in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay jointly conducted Faculty Development Programme on PHP & MYSQL through online mode from 27/04/2020 to 01/05/2020.  Five faculty members have attended the programme.

PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS :

  • Glad to present that 21 students of this department secured Centum marks in 14 subjects in the University examinations held on April-May 2019.
  • One day State Level Seminar was organized on the topic ‘Fuzzy Numbers their applications” on 03.10.2019. Dr. L.Sujatha, Head, PG & Research Dept. of Maths, Auxilium College was the Resource person.
  • On 30th August 2019 the Department Association conducted a special lecture on “How does mathematics rule the world indirectly”. Lt. L. Vikraman, Assistant Professor & Associate NCC officer, Department of Maths GTM College, Gudiyattam was the chief guest and delivered a talk.

PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY:

  • The Department organized a State Level Seminar on “Conformational Analysis of organic Molecule” on 30.09.2019.
  • M. Nagarthinam, Associate Professor & Head, PG & Research Department of Chemistry, D.K.M. College for Women and Academic Council Member of Thiruvalluvar University was the chief guest. She delivered a special lecture on this topic. Students from various college participated in this program.

 PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY :

  • The Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology associated together and organized a State level Seminar 04.10.2019 on the topics “Recent trends in life science – 2019.”
  • Dr.A. Liyakath Ali, Member – Academic & Syndicate Councils Thiruvalluvar University, HOD of Biochemistry, Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi and Dr.Rajasekar, Asst. Prof. of Biotechnology, SRM University were the resource persons and they gave a remarkable lecture on this topic.
  •  The department conducted an awareness program on Breast Cancer and Cervical cancer on 16th August 2019. Mrs. N.Sathya, Staff Nurse, Govt. Hospital, Gudiyattam gave a Power point presentation.
  • On 20th August 2019 the Department Association was organized a special lecture. Dr.M.Agilan, Associate Professor of Zoology, Voorhees College was the Chief Guest. He delivered a key talk on the importance of compost manure and vermiculture.

PG DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY :

  • On 12.07.2019, the Department Association conducted an awareness program on ‘Cancer Awareness”. Dr. K.Velavan, Managing Director – consultant Radiation oncologist from Erode was the Resource person. He delivered a lecture on this topic.
  • The Department of has conducted another program on “HIV Disease and its treatment” held on 30.08.2019. Mr. S.Yuvaraj, Virologist, CMC, Vellore was the resource person and he gave a lecture on this topic.

 LIBRARY :

  • The library is an important source of learning. Library comprises huge number of text books, E- Journals, E-Books, National and International journals and Magazines.

WOMEN’S WELFARE CLUB :

Mrs.V.S.Vinitha Janani, Asst. Prof. of BCA is the convener and Mrs.R.Ramapriya, Asst. Prof. of BCA is the member of this club.

  • The Behavioral Counselling program was conducted on 19.08.2019. Ø  International Women’s Day was celebrated on 07.03.2020. Mrs. P.A. Ragavi, Visiting faculty of Yoga from Aliyar was the Chief Guest and delivered a special lecture on .

HEALTH CLUB :

  • Mrs.R. Saraswathi, Asst. Prof. of CS is the Convener & Mrs. S.Kayalvizhi, Asst.Prof. of CS is the member of the club.
  •  The Club organized an awareness program on 29.08.2019 on the topic “Menstrual Hygiene”. Mrs. J.Papitha Devi, President, JCI, Vellore was the Resource Person. More than 300 female students participated and benefited.
  •  An awareness program on the topic “It’s never too late to be healthy & happy” was organized on 07.03.2020. Prof. Vasuki Asokan, Department of English, MK Jain College was the Chief Guest and gave a special talk on this topic. Nearly 300 female students were participated and benefitted.

N.S.S ACTIVITIES

Dr.J.Thirumagal, Assistant professor of biochemistry and Prof K.Rajiv, Assistant Professor, Dept.of computer applications are the NSS Programme officers.

  • During this academic year, NSS has conducted three blood donation camps on different dates viz 25.07.2019, 07.11.2019 and 03.03.2020. The units of blood donated 135, 65 and 95 units respectively to the Govt. Hospital, Gudiyattam, Narayani Hospital and CMC Hospital, Vellore.
  • A Rally was conducted on 12.10.2019 at Ammanankuppam village for “Go green to breath”. Walkathon rally was organized at Ammanakuppam village to create awareness on dengue fever.
  • An awareness programme was conducted on “108 ambulance service and first aid” held on 21.08.2019, Mr. R.Sudhakaran, 108 Ambulance Staff delivered a talk with suitable demonstration.
  • Sardar Vallabbhai Patel birthday (31st October) celebrated as “National Unity day”. All the students took pledge for National Unity.
  • A Special lecture was organized on the theme “Benefits of Blood donation on 11.01.2019. Dr. M.Yajitha of CMC Hospital addressed the students.
  • Observing of Anti leprosy day, a pledge was taken at Ammanakuppam Village on 18.11.2019 in the presence of Mr.S. Adhisayaruban, RRC District Manager, Vellore.
  • Seven days NSS special camp was conducted from 27.02.2020 to 04.03.2020 at Ammanankuppam & Vanniyarpatti village. 100 students both boys and girls participated in the camp.
  • The activities of the special camp includes field work along with various activities like medical & blood donation camps, Tree plantation and beneficial special lectures for the revival of the society.

    FINE ARTS CLUB :

Ms. M.Divya Asst, PG Department of English is the convener, and Mr. V. Vijay is the Member.

  • Fine Arts Club organized Intra-College Competitions like Mehandhi, Solo dance, Solo singing, Fashion Parade, Cookery, Pencil Sketch, Hair-dressing, Rangoli and wealth from waste. Winners were awarded with prizes.
  • Separate Talentia Competitions were conducted for staff members.
  • The club has conducted Samathuva Pongal Vizha on 13.01.2020. Several competitions were conducted and distributed the prizes in this regard.
  • This club encouraged the students to participate and won prizes in the Art-Smart-2019-20, held at MKJC on 25.09.2019.

CITIZEN CONSUMER CLUB :

This club has constituted with Dr.R.Manikandan, Assistant Professor of BBA as convener.

  • The club has organized on awareness program on “IT consumerism” on 05.03.2020. Dr.J.Sasikanth Asst. Prof. Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur delivered a Special lecture on this topic.

ROTARACT :

Mrs. M. Mohanapriya, Department of Physics is the convener of this club.

  • The Rotract and YRC club jointly organized a mass rally on 22.10.2019 at Ammanankuppam village to create awareness among the people about the dengue fever.
  • M.Muthuselvan and Dr.Ramkumaran from Govt. Hospital Gudiyattam were participated in this rally.
  • More than 600 students took part in this program and also Nilavembu Kudineer was provided to all staff and students.

  YOUTH RED CROSS :

Thiru. G.Raghuvarman, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry is the Convener of this club.

  • On 23.7.2019 Volunteers of YRC participated in the District level YRC study camp held at Auxillium College, Katpadi.
  • Our YRC volunteer V.Ramya participated in the district level YRC competitions held on 10.08.19 at Katpadi Auxilliam College and won III Prize in Elocution competition

PLACEMENT CELL :

The placement cell is constituted with the following staff as Conveners, Mr.M.Sakthivel and Dr.S.Dineshkumar, Assistant Professors of Microbiology.

The placement cell has organized a career guidance program on 04.01.2020 for all UG and PG final year students in association with Tiumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt.Ltd (T.I.M.E) Vellore, on the topic of “Magic of MBA and job opportunity in private sector”.

The Cell has conducted many campus drives

  • Online assessment by “Hire Me” Chennai on 10.01.2020. 285 students were selected out of 700 participants.
  • 22nd January 2020 in association with “Indian Healthcare Pvt. Ltd” Vellore. 41 students were selected and received offer letter from the organization for medical billing and medical coding job.
  • 11.02.2020 and 12.02.2020 conducted by MOS Global. 187 students were selected and received offer letter.
  • All final UG & PG girls students take participated in the campus drive conducted by Sri Marg Human Resource Private limited, on 14.02.2020, 148 students were received offer letter from Foxcon Private Limited, Sunguvachathiram, Chennai.

ELECTORAL CLUB :

Prof. K.Jayasankar is the Co-ordinator and Mr. R.M. Balamurugan is the member of this club.

  • The club organized young New Electoral Enrolment camp on 24.09.2019. 100 students enrolled in this camp.
  • The club celebrated ‘National Voters Day’ celebration on 07.01.2020. S. Senthamizh Selvi, Deputy Tashildhar, Gudiyattam was the Chief Guest. She delivered a speech on the significance of voting the vote in the elections.

INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC):

  1. The IQAC Coordinator Mr.J.Srinivasan, Asst. Professor, Department of Computer Science, Presented a Paper on “Impact on ICT education in rural area” in the  NAAC sponsored National Conference Conducted by Sacred Heart College, Thirupattur on 25th and 26th July 2019.
  2. AQAR 2018-19 of our college was prepared and uploaded in the NAAC web portal on 13th November 2019 successfully.
  3. College News Letter (Bi-annual) was released on 30.01.2020.

Our organization is a renowned full-pledged research institute in this rural area, which is providing higher education to the poor and middle class rural students at an affordable cost. I thank the Management for helping the poor students of this area to convert their aspirations into achievements.

I pray that the grace of God and benediction of our beloved founder IYYA will always be with us to continue this legacy.
