DR.S.L.Manju Associate professor and head, department of chemistry,    SAS, VIT Vellore explained to the students operations of  various  instruments available in the VIT University vellore.

STATE LEVEL SEMINAR  ON “QUANTUM CHEMISTRY SPECTROSCOPIC IDENTIFICATION OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS”

The PG & Research Department of Chemistry organized a State Level Seminar in the topic “QUANTUM CHEMISTRY & SPECTROSCOPIC IDENTIFICATION OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS” on 20thAugust 2018   Dr. D. Gajapathy, Director and Dr. M. Jayasri Rani, Principal of K.M.G. College of Arts & Science, Gudiyattam, inaugurated and presided over the function. Dr. K. Subramani, Head, Department of Chemistry welcomed the gathering. Dr.K.R. Sankaran,  Head & Associate Professor of Chemistry, Annamalai University, Annamalai nagar, Chithambaram. Was the resource person and he delivered a lecture on “Quantum chemistry” and Dr.K.Geetha Head & Associate Professor, Muthurangam Govt arts College , Vellore.  As many as 151 students and 5 faculty members from 8 colleges participated in this state level seminar.

Paper presentation was conducted. 3 papers from 3 colleges were Presented. Prof. S.Daniel deva sangeeth, Asst. Prof. of Chemistry, Voorhees College, Vellore and K.Sharmila , Asst. Prof. of Chemistry, Government Thirumagal Mills College Gudiyattam, judged the Paper presentation.

At the end of the program, Director and Principal distributed the prizes to the winners of Paper presentation. Prof. K. Gandhimathi, Assistant Professor of Chemistry proposed a vote of thanks.

Students of II M.Sc and I M.Sc chemistry along with staff members had a one day visit to Indira  Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research –Kalpakkam on 28.09.2018.

“RUSAC INTERCOLLEGIATE QUIZ COMPETITION” :

 The PG & Research Department of Chemistry organized a “RUSAC INTERCOLLEGIATE QUIZ COMPETITION” on 28th January 2019,    Dr. D. Gajapathy, Director and Dr. M. Jayasri Rani, Principal of K.M.G. College of Arts & Science, Gudiyattam, inaugurated and presided over the function. Dr. K. Subramani, Head, Department of Chemistry welcomed the gathering. As many as 61 students and 5 faculty members from 8 colleges participated in this event.

Prof. S. NandhaKumar, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, conducted Quiz competition for various field in chemistry and general knowledge.

At the end of the program, Director and Principal distributed the prizes to the winners of Paper presentation. Prof. K. Gandhimathi, Assistant Professor of Chemistry proposed a vote of thanks.
