Department of Tamil

The Department of Tamil was established in the year: 2000

K.M.G. College of Arts and Science was established on 10th September 2000. The Department of Tamil was also established to offer foundation Tamil for the students of the college. Initially the syllabus was according to the TANSCHE norms. Tamil is the foundation course for most of the students under Part – I  The Government regulation Part I Tamil is being offered to the second year students of B.Com., B.B.A., B.C.A., from the academic year 2023 onwards.

The learning outcomes and objectives are formulated according to the needs of the society and students. We have a Tamil Literary Association in our college. Prominent Tamil Scholars are invited every year to enlighten the students. The Department is conducting various competitions like Essay writing, Poetry Writing and Elocution competition. Winners OF THE COMPETITIONS ARE AWARDED PRIZES IN OUR COLLEGE ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION.

The theme of every competition is related to various Social, Economical, Gender equality, Educational and Cultural fields. Above all, the Department is teaching Basic Tamil as non major subject for the students who are not Studying Tamil as part-I. The department has a collection of 1683 books in the general library & 70 books in the department library for ready reference.

The Aim of This Department is to Convey to the Students Community the History and the disappearing Culture of the Tamil Language which has attained excellence for 2000 years.

Mission of the Department

To Prepare the Students for Various types of Competitive examinations by imparting Knowledge of Tamil Language Arts, Literature, History, Culture etc.

Syllabus
