STATE LEVEL CONFERENCE 2016
The PG Department of English has organized a state level seminar on “Diasporic Literature” on 19th August 2016 at K.M.G Auditorium. The chief guest of the day was Dr. E. THOMAS APPADURAI SUGIRDHARAJ, Dean, Dhivya Arts & Science College, Chetpet. The Head, PG Department of English Prof. D.BALAJI delivered welcome address. Our Chairman Thiru. K.M.G. SUNDARAVADANAM honored the chief guest in a blissful way.
Beloved Principal Dr. M. JAYASRIRANI presided over the function and delivered presidential address. Our dignified Director Dr. D. GAJAPATHY gave inaugural address. Our Honorable chairman, K.M.G. SUNDARAVADANAM delivered felicitation address.
The Chief Guest of the day gave an eloquent speech on the topic “Diasporic Literature”. He explained the distinguished features of diasporic literature one by one with suitable illustrations from the novels. Especially few features like Nostalgia, Longingness, anxiety, Cultural changes, Social conflicts and so on.

Ms. S. GEETHAPRIYA from MMES COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE MELVISHARAM has won first prize in Paper Presentation under the title, “Cultural Identity in the Indian Diaspora.”
Ms. R. PRISKILLA MARY from MKJC ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, VANIYAMBADI has won second prize in Paper Presentation under the title, “Women Writers in Diaspora.”
Mr. V. JEEVA & Mr. K.G.S. KANNADASAN from K.M.G COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE has won third prize in Paper Presentation under the title, “Location and Dislocation in Diasporic Literature.”
87 students and 13 faculties from various colleges had participated in State Level Seminar. Out of this 32 students were presented papers from various Colleges including 10 students from K.M.G College of Arts & Science have presented their papers.
Our honorable Dr. K. S. PURUSHOTHAMAN delivered Valedictory address.
Our Director Dr. D. GAJAPATHY and our Principal Dr. M. JAYASRIRANI distributed Prizes to the students.
Prof. M. SARANYA delivered Vote of Thanks and concluded the function in a grand manner.
The function came to an end with National Anthem.
