The English literary Association day was celebrated on 3.10.2010 with all its splendor and grandeur. Mrs.V.Muthu Lakshmi, H.O.D of English, Aringar Anna Govt Arts College of Women, Walajapet,was the chief guest of this festive day. She delivered a lecture on the topic “Significance of Learning Soft skills” which was very informative. It imparted the students an awareness of the recent trends in learning Communication skills skills.
Various competition such as Poetry writing, Oratorical ,Essay Writing,Short story Writing,Quiz,Debate were conducted as a part of the English literary association activities. The primary aim of these competitions was to test the aptitude and the talents of the students thereby helping them develop their potentialities.
The students of English literature participated in various literary competitions conducted by the various colleges affiliated to thiruvalluvar University and won prizes.The English Literature student enacted a famous scene from shakespeare’s History play Henry IV part I, which facilitated the discovery of the hidden talents of the students. Prizes were awarded to the students who participated in various competitions, on this auspicious day.
